Instructions for operation game

Test the board's batteries. Pick up the board's metal tweezers and touch them to the metal ends of any hole in the board. If the batteries work, the board should vibrate and Cavity Sam's nose should light up. If neither of these things happen, you may need to replace the batteries before you begin. Deal the Specialist cards out evenly to each player. If any extra Specialist cards remain, place them aside—for this round, they will be out of play.

Shuffle the Doctor cards a final time and place them face down and within reach of every player. Once the game begins, you can look at your Specialist cards. Operation is designed to accommodate players at a time. Part 2. Take turns "operating" on Cavity Sam. When it's your turn, draw a card from the Doctor pile and try to perform an "operation" on the corresponding body part.

Use the metal tweezers to grasp the Funatomy piece and lift it out of Cavity Sam's body without touching the sides of the hole. If you touch the sides, the buzzer will sound and Cavity Sam's nose will light up. This signifies that the operation was unsuccessful and your turn is over. Play by yourself as an alternative. Although Operation is usually played between several people, you can play it on your own as well.

See how quickly you can remove all of the Funatomy pieces without hitting Cavity Sam's sides. Claim your fee if the operation was successful.

If you removed the Funatomy piece without setting off the buzzer, congratulations! Check the Doctor card to find the fee and ask the banker for your reward. Set the Funatomy piece and the Doctor card aside, as both are now out of play. Let the Specialist have a turn if the operation is unsuccessful. If you accidentally trigger the buzzer and Cavity Sam's nose lights up, have all of the players look at their Specialist cards.

Whoever was dealt the Specialist card for that body part can now try to perform the operation. If they are successful, they can claim the reward listed on their card.

If the Specialist is also unsuccessful, put the Doctor card back into the pile. That piece is now back in play. Set a time limit to add an extra level of challenge to your game. If you and the other players don't think the game is difficult enough, try adding a time limit to your gameplay. Make a rule that players have to get the piece out within seconds or else it becomes the Specialist's turn. Part 3. Finish the game when all of the cards have been completed.

Keep taking turns in a circle until you remove every Funatomy piece from Cavity Sam. If your group is having trouble with a particular last piece, try making the time limit a little longer or add money to the reward. Count up all of the players' money to determine a winner. The winner is not necessarily the person who performed the most surgeries, but the one who earned the most throughout the game.

If two players have earned the same amount, you can declare a tie, recount, or have a rematch to determine the overall champion. Try to beat your personal record if playing by yourself. Find a game Advanced Search. Patient, the doctor will see you now. This patient is a rare patient, with a lot of complaints. Aluminum and other metals are very good at carrying electricity in circuits- these materials are known as conductors Figure.

Other materials do not carry electricity very well at all- these materials are known as insulators. Good insulators include certain types of plastic and rubber. The power cords for household electrical appliances, such as lamps and fans, have a conductor inside usually copper that is coated with a plastic insulator.

This way, electricity can flow through the cord, but it cannot escape from the circuit if the cord comes in contact with another conductor like your hand! The game's bottom panel provides backing for your patient's operation sites. It is wrapped in foil, so that it can conduct electricity to other components in the game's circuit. Cut out your bottom panel, making it about 4 inches shorter than your top panel.

Wrap your bottom panel in a smooth layer of aluminum foil, as shown in Figure. Tape the foil in place, if necessary. Test fit your bottom panel to make sure that it provides backing for all of your patient's operation openings, as shown in Figure. NOTE: The bottom panel should also be visible in the hole for the battery lead, but not reach as high as the patient's nose. Glue the top panel to the bottom panel, as shown in Figure. The circuit for the Operation game is fairly simple.

The red lead from the battery is connected to the foil-wrapped bottom layer. If a player touches the foil with the tweezers, it completes a circuit that includes the buzzer and the LED. Three machine screws provide points of connection for the game's electronic components. These should be positioned to the left and right of the buzzer, and in the circular opening to the right of the patient's shoulder.

Press fit the buzzer into the rectangular opening in the game's top panel. Add the three machine screws, securing each with a washer on top and a nut on the bottom, as shown in Figure. In the original Operation game, the patient had a red flashlight bulb for a nose, which would light if a player's hand slipped during surgery. In your game, you will place an LED on the game board to serve the same purpose. Using a screwdriver or other tool, make a small puncture in the top panel where you want to position the LED.

The red and black leads from battery pack and the buzzer connect to the machine screws that you added in the last step. Connect the red battery lead to the machine screw that comes through the foil-wrapped bottom layer, as shown in Figure. Connect the black battery lead and the black buzzer wire to the machine screw in the board's upper-left corner, as shown. Connect the red battery lead to the remaining machine screw, as shown. Before connecting the LED, be sure that you know which pin is the power pin and which is the ground pin.

If you are unsure, consult the images in Unit 2 for guidance. Connect short lengths of black and red wire to the terminals to the left and right of the buzzer, as shown in Figure. Twist together one end of the Ohm resistor with the loose end of the black wire, and twist together the other end of the resistor with the LED's ground pin, as shown.

Twist together the loose end of the red wire with the LED's power pin, as shown. Crocodile Dentist Travel. Crocodile Dentist. Cabo Kaboo. Captain Clueless. Captain Sonar. Cargo Noir. Castle Keep.
